Gratuity in CTC: what it means for in-hand salary

Gratuity can be shown as an employer cost in CTC, but eligibility and payment depend on law and employment conditions rather than a monthly bank transfer.

Practical context, not generic advice

A cost component is not a monthly allowance

When gratuity is included in CTC, it reduces the amount available for cash salary in a modeled offer. It does not normally appear as a monthly cash credit alongside basic pay and allowances.

Eligibility, tenure and calculation are legal and employer-policy questions. Treat a CTC gratuity line as a signal to read the terms, not as a guaranteed amount you can spend this month.

Compare like with like

When two offers use different gratuity treatment, compare their cash gross, employee deductions and benefit terms rather than assuming their CTC figures are directly equivalent.

Run your own salary assumptions in the calculator.
